Dutch judoka Bas Van Empelen won bronze at the senior European Cup in Saarbrucken in 2016 and bronze medal at the European Cup in Belgrade in 2016. He trains in Hoogland close to Amersfoort. He won the Dutch Cadet Championships in 2012 and 2013 and two Junior titles. He took a bronze medal at the European Cup in Dubrovnik in 2017. He won the European Cup in Uster in 2018.
