The category U81kg in Budapest was interesting with a good field of some of the top players, but lacking the top three in the world. Canada, Australia and Poland will not send athletes to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo because of the risks associated with the coronavirus outbreak, the Olympic committees for both countries said in separate statements. An exciting tournament U81kg at the World Championships with Sagi Muki as the new World Champion. In the final he defeated belgian prodigy Matthias Casse another time. Muki and Casse know each-other inside out but again Muki was able to take this match and captured the first world title for his country. Takanori Nagase claims second Grand Prix title in a month
Former world champion Nagase Takanori of Japan won his second Grand Prix title in July as he followed up on his Montreal win by going unbeaten in Zagreb. Olympic bronze medallist Nagase bested London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Antoine Valois-Fortier (CAN) by ippon in the final in a first-time meeting between two of the leading judoka in one of judo’s most fascinating weight categories.
