Veronica Toniolo, a promising young judoka from Italy, has clinched her spot at the upcoming Olympic Games in the U57kg category, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career. Born in Trieste, Italy, Toniolo has emerged as one of the brightest talents in the sport, fueled by a passion for judo instilled in her from a young age.

Toniolo's journey into judo began under the guidance of her parents, Raffaele and Monica, both avid judokas themselves. She took her first steps onto the tatami at the Società Ginnastica Triestina in Trieste, where she honed her skills and developed a deep love for the sport.

From the outset, Toniolo displayed a natural aptitude for judo, drawn to the discipline's physicality and rich tradition of values. Her dedication and perseverance paid off as she quickly rose through the ranks, earning accolades and recognition on both the national and international stages.

One of Toniolo's early triumphs came at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018, where she secured a gold medal in the team event and placed fifth in the individual competition. Her success continued with a cadet world championship title in Almaty in 2019, setting the stage for a remarkable career ahead.

In 2023, Toniolo etched her name in the annals of judo history by claiming both the European and World Junior Champion titles, solidifying her status as a rising star in judo. Her achievements were further highlighted by bronze medals on the World Judo Tour in Tbilisi and Dushanbe and silver in Zagreb, under the coaching guidance of her father, Raffaele. Her mother Monica was also a well-known Italian judoka.

Despite facing some injury setbacks, in the elbow and a shoulder dislocation with a labrum tear in 2024, Toniolo's resilience and talent come together on the mat. She credits her family for their unwavering support and encouragement, allowing her to pursue her dreams with confidence.

As she looks ahead to the Olympic Games, Toniolo remains focused on her ultimate goal: to win Olympic gold and pave the way for a peaceful and stable future beyond judo. With her talent and support of her family, Veronica Toniolo stands poised to make her mark on the Olympic stage in Paris.
