After being appointed Director of High Performance in January 2021, and following the recent changes announced at the head of the French Men's Team by the French Judo Federation, Larbi Benboudaoud has decided to leave his current position. He will remain at the Federation to take up other functions.

"I thank Larbi for everything he has brought to the French Judo Team. I regret his decision, but I respect it. After the World Championships, I wanted to bring changes and a new dynamic at the head of the men's French team, which was not performing well, but also to give more space to the clubs in the management of the high level. This is the continuation of the implementation of the Judo Pro League. We have divergent positions and visions on this subject. I hope that the system will evolve very quickly with a view to the Paris 2024 Games, but also those of Los Angeles 2028” said Stéphane NOMIS, President of France Judo

"I preferred to take this decision because I am not aligned with the strategy wanted by the President. I am not against change, but I think that the timing of decisions, 18 months before the Games, is a major risk. I have had different roles in the French team, I have served it as an athlete, coach and High Performance Director. I wish our French team every success. I remain at the service of French Judo, I will continue to give back what it has given me, but in other functions, in the service of other projects.
