Odette Giuffrida defends European title U52kg in Lisbon

An interesting weight division at the European Championships in Lisbon the category U52kg with current European Champion Odette Giuffrida (ITA). She captured the European title last year in Prague and becomes more and more stable over the last years. Her top performances was her Olympic final in 22016 and she definitely can achieve a podium place in Tokyo. Defending her title in Lisbon though is the first priority as honour is something special for Italians.
The number one seed though is for French World number one Amandine Buchard who might see a veteran and multiple European Champions soon in the tournament, Andreea Chitu (ROU).
Spanish Ana Perez Box might see Swiss Evelyne Tschopp in the quarter final. Giuffrida is in Pool C and might meet Portuguese oldest Grand Slam medallist Joana Ramos, who might want to show her best in Lisbon. Pupp Reka (HUN) though can be a quarter finalist as well and she is on fire lately, coached by former European and World Champion (2005) Braun Akos.
Israeli double act Gili Cohen and Gefen Primo are both in the same pool (D). Cohen looks good for a quarter final position Gefen Primo is in a tougher preround phase with either Van Krevel (NED) or Lopez Sheriff (ESP) who took silver last week in Antalya and placed third in the 2020 European Championships.
