Sagi Muki concludes successful 2019 as top earner

The IJF will continue its end-of-year tradition of awarding a prize money bonus to all 14 world number ones on the final IJF World Ranking List for 2019. The bonus, which was first introduced in 2016, will see the world number one’s in each of the 14 weight categories scoop a bonus of $10,000 per judoka.
Calculating all prize money over 2019 Sagi Muki was the top earner. Obviously athletes have to share 20% with their coach. For most their regular contracts or their sponsor contracts are worth more, but only the elite will strike this kind of money. For most athletes the prize money is still a substantial part of income. Overall the French are the top earners when it comes to prize money (and contracts). Teddy Riner, Clarisse Agbegnenou and Idalys Ortiz are the top earners since the IJF introduced prize money and bonusses for the IJF Events medallist and ranking list leaders.
