Judo promoters Nuno Delgado turn 40, Ole Bischof 37 today

Three Olympic medallists and three World medallists celebrate their birthday at 27 August. Ole Bischof was 2008 Olympic Champion U81kg and 2012 runner-up both against Kim Jae-Bum. He won world bronze in 2009 and the European title in 2005. Highly successful with TSV Abensberg. Very popular and promoter of judo.

Portuguese Nuno Delgado turned 40, Delgado is the 2000 Olympic bronze medallist of Sydney and best ever male athlete of Portugal. President of Escola de Judo Nuno Delgado and his project Achieve, Collect and Give Back. He won the European title in 1999 and silver in 2003. Nuno won World Cups and national titles. Delgado never fought Bischof actually.

Japanese heavyweight Mika Sugimoto was finallist of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Sugimoto became World Champion in 2010 in Tokyo. She won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2011 in Paris. She was World Open bronze medallist in 2008. She won the Asian Games in 2010 in Guangzhou.

Loic Pietri turned 26. Pietri is the 2013 World Champion, bronze medallist in 2014 and took world silver in 2015 in Astana. He won three consecutive European and World medals. Always competing with Avtandili Tchrikishvili but won European team gold with France in Baku in 2015. He nearly always medals where he starts, but wasn’t successful so far this year. Pietri fought Bischof twice, but the German won both. It's the experience we guess.

36-year old Italian judoka Francesco Bruyere was the 2005 World Championships finallist in Cairo U73kg. He won European Junior bronze in 1999. He won three World Cups in Rome, Tallinn and Miami. He won 8 World Cup medals and became coach after his career.

34-year old Yohei Takai of Japan was the 2005 World bronze medallist. he won the Super World Cup Tournoi de Paris in 2006 as heavyweight. He won the Grand Slam of Tokyo in 2008.

Worth while mentioning is the birthday of Olympian Iurii Krakovetskii of Kyrgyzstan. The heavyweight won Grand Prix medals in Astana in 2014 and Samsun in 2015. He won won silver at the Asian Chs in 2015 and bronze at the European Open in Minsk. He represented Asia at the ECCO Team Challenge in 2014. In 2016 he won bronze at the Czech Open in Prague and surprised with good performances at the Olympic Games in Rio.
