The first medals were collected in the women categories -48kg, -52kg, -63kg and in men -66kg, -73kg. Olympic Champion Lasha Shavdautashvili was out in the first round of the category U73kg, Leandro Cunha (BRA) finished on a seventh place in his new category.

Really big names in the category U73kg and Sagi Muki of Israel won that division. In final against Cuban Estrada he made that it looks very easy, after just 30 seconds he launches Sode-Tsurikomi-Goshi and scores an ippon. What a day for Israelian fighter which took his second gold on the IJF Tour.

World number one U81kg, Avtandili Tchrikisvhili dominated one more tournament in row. He is unbeatable for a long time now, and is just the matter of time when he will take the world title, probably it will happen in August in Chelyabinsk. With four won matches in Cuba, none of his opponents did not succeed to make any score against him. During the day he fought with Steven Travis (USA), Antoine Valois-Fortier (CAN), Murat Khabachirov (RUS) and Pedro Castro of Colombia. It is interesting that three of this four competitiors were standing next to Tchrikishvili on the podium.

In ALL-FRENCH final Bellard did not have any chance against Clarisse Agbegnenou. Bellard picked up three shidos in first minute of the contest, after she was thrown by Agbegnenou on waza-ari and it did not take long to pick up fourth shido in the final match U63kg division. Attractive fight for bronze medal was between Espinosa (CUB) and World Champion Yarden Gerbi (ISR), but at the end Espinosa took another medal for Cuba.

Laura Vargas-Koch (GER) was the winner of the category U70kg, in final match she won with osae-komi against Bernadette Graf of Austria. Youngster Barbara Matic (CRO) found again her way to the podium, standing next to Kelita Zupancic (CAN) which lost against Matic in quarter-final.
