Japanese lose most points in the World Ranking this week

Due to the reduction of the points of the Grand Prix of Düsseldorf in 2015 by 50% and 2014 to 0% some small moves occurred in the World Ranking top 10. With the new points of Prague and Warsaw only a few benefit in the top 20 of the World Ranking. The Japanese suffer the most from the brilliant performances of last year's Grand Prix in Germany which are now split.

U60kg Toru Shishime lost valuable points and is now the world’s number 9 instead of number 5 last week. Also Masashi Ebinuma lost 50% of his points last year and is now 8 compared to 6^th last week.

Shohei Ono is now 7, last week 6 U73kg, but also no shocking changes in the World Ranking. Also German Sven Maresch lost a few points now and is out of the top 10 but safe enough for Olympic qualification with last week’s silver in Düsseldorf. Ivaylo Ivanov benefits at place 9.

Also Daiki Nishiyama dropped out of the top 10, Mashu Baker is still the best ranked Japanese fighter U90kg.  The Japanese team was highly successful last year in Düsseldorf and also World Champion Ryunosuke Haga lost one place to Karl Richard Frey who was even absent last week. The effect of losing points at Grand Prix level had clearly more impact than the new points of the Euro Open where Krpalek didn’t add any points and is still number three despite his home victory in Prague this weekend.

Hungarian Barna Bor made progression from 5 to 3 +100kg this week as Shichinohe and Jaballah lost points in the top 5.

The same patron for the women where most over the 2015 Düsseldorf winners lost points among them seven Japanese winners. The top three though is almost everywhere the same as last week.

U78kg Guusje Steenhuis (NED) is now ranked three, a small swop with Luise Malzahn (GER). +78kg Sisi Ma (CHN) is back to rank 2 after a short change with Idalys Ortiz (CUB) , now back to 3.

The three Polish winners last week booked some small progress, the biggest mover is Beata Pacut who gained her first 100 points and is new at place 62. Klys from 14 to 12, Podolak from 37 to 34. Czech lightweight Pavel Petrikov booked an important progress from 33 to 25 and he seems to have a safe position for the qualification for Rio now.
