Judoka Chris Kato of the United States won gold at the US National Championships Hilo, Hawai in 1957 in the category U81kg. He was Vice Principal at Sharples Jr. High and Cleveland High. Retired as Principal of Chief Sealth High School after 36 years in education. An avid judoist and sensei, he did judo for 60 years and taught judo for 43 years, winning a National Judo Championship in 1957 and earning a 7th degree black belt. He lived in Seattle.
