Judoka Staf Lauwereins from Belgium clinched a silver medal at the European Championships in 1967 in Rome and bronze in Warsaw in 1969. He finished fifth at the World Championships in 1967 in Salt Lake and 5th in 1969 in Mexico. At the 1972 Olympics he reached the 1/8 finals. He won the Masters World title in 2010 in Budapest and took bronze in 2008 in Brussels. He won various Masters titles in Belgium. Gustaaf was selected 7 times for European Championships in the Belgian team. He was national champion six consecutive times 1966-1972. Sixth Dan since 2008.
