Sangeeta Mehta was the first woman Judoka from India who participated in the Olympics (Barcelona). She took a fifth place in Asian Judo Championship in Osaka, Japan (1991,+72) and won two bronze medals in Asian Judo Championship in Damascus, Syria (1988, in +72+ and open. Presently, settled in Ottawa, Canada.
