Founder and editor in chief of JudoInside.com. After his journalism education he worked for a number of TV companies as editor and started an own business in sports statistics in The Netherlands. He merged with a larger Sports data company in 1998. Van Essen, launched JudoInside.com in March 2002, but collects data since 1988. Was Media Director of the EJU from 2009-2014. Distributor of IPPON GEAR in the Netherlands and Belgium and continues to maintain JudoInside.com as number 1 judo portal.
