In 2001 Tunisian judoka Anis Lounifi became the frist African World Champion in Munich. Lounifi won bronze in 2003. In 2009 Houda Miled won bronze in Rotterdam for Tunisia and in 2013 Jaicel Jaballah captured bronze. Nihel Cheikh Rouhou, Faicel Jaballah, Houda Miled and Anis Chedly won the African title more than 5 times. In 2000 the World Junior Championships were held in Nabeul. In 2010 and 2011 the IJF Grand Prix in Tunis and in 2016 the African Championships. Iskander Hachicha is President of the Tunisian Judo Federation.
