Japan misses the golden boat at Cadet Worlds opening day
Japan have always won a World Cadet title at the opening day of the previous three World Cadet Championships, but not in the 2015 edition in Sarajevo. Only Japanese Riko Igarashi is still in the race for a bronze medal in the U44kg category.
In the semi finals of U44kg, four European fighters, as well as two in the race for bronze. In the semis there were: EYOF champion Sofia Petitto (ITA) and European champion Daria Bilodid (UKR)
In the women’s division U40kg there were three Europeans in the semi final including European champion Shahana Hajiyeva (AZE), with the only exception being Mongolian Baasansuren.
In the U50kg category, two Europeans and two Asian fighters remained. The Kazakh judoka are always strong in this category and Aibolat Ystybay reached the semi final against Vice European champion Giorgi Niazashvili (GEO), as well as EYOF champion Biagio D’ Angelo.
In total there were 36 competitors, including Bulgarian European champion Denislav Ivanov, three Europeans and Brazilian Pan American Champion Renan Torres.
