Frazer Will wins a silver judo medal in Las Vegas

Canadian judokas Frazer Will (60 kg), Michal Popiel (-66 kg) and Nicholas Tritton (-73 kg) each won a silver medal Sunday at the United States Open, which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. A Saskatchewan native, Will was beaten by Shintaro Nakano, who was able to score a wazari in the finals. BR> « My opponent was tough. He surprised me in the middle of the match and I wasn’t able to get that point back before the end, », Will said.

In the 66 kg category, Jean-François Villemure took the bronze medal.

Among the four Canadian judokas who finished in fifth place, there are Saskatchewan native Gonzalo Ibanez (-60 kg) and Kimi Suda (-52 kg), from British Columbia.
