The Japanese men coaching team checked the judo venue at Ano Liossia on Wednesday afternoon. In total the whole Japanese team consists of fourteen athletes, ten coaches, two physical trainers, two doctors and the technical director.

Hitoshi Saito double Olympic Champion of 1984 and 1988 was satisfied of the judo hall. Saito is de head coach of a team of five who keep track on the men’s performances.

Saito was checking tactical which of the 30 changing rooms he would pick out. Rather close the doping control, which suggests that the coach is confident.

‘We want seven gold medals for the whole team’ SAITO said. Asking if he’d be satisfied with seven medals for just the men he denied strongly.

‘Only gold is good enough’ SAITO answered after trying the tatami himself with former double world champion Hirotaka OKADA.

OKADA was just curious how the venue was. “Trainers and athletes both work hard the whole period and it’s just good to know that the accommodation has quality, but it’s the circumstances that make judokas a champion.”
