The expected athletes have qualified for the semi finals. No one doubted about Teddy Riner, his opponent was expected to be Or Sasson of Israel although he was in a tricky pool with Roy Meyer and Kim SungMin, but the Israelian survived his pool after he defeated Roy Meyer in the quarter final by wazari.

The other semi final is between Hisayoshi Harasawa who defeated Adam Okruashvili in the first round which was the launch for further progression against Ushangi Kokauri and Alex Garcia who beste Barna Bor. Hasarawa will meet the only unexpected semi finalist Abdullo Tangriev of Uzbekistan, the old fox is fighting his fourth Olympic Games. He started in 2000 in Sydney with 2 matches, two tough matches in 2004 and in 2008 he was in the final in Beijing against winner Ishii. This year he is back successfully with victories over Sua (SAM), Natea (ROU) and Iurii Krakovetskii (KGZ) in the quarterfinal. Krakovetskii surprised favourite Iakov Khammo of the Ukraine in his second match.

Riner defeated Or Sasson three times, and Harasawa won once from Tangriev, but again, this is the Olympics, the unexpected can happen. Teddy Riner never fought against Harasawa, so nothing to predict.

Repechage

Rafael Silva vs Roy Meyer 1-1

Alex Garcia vs Iurii Krakovetskii 0-0
