For the first time three Korean World Ranking leaders

Seven athletes from Asia lead the World Ranking since this weekend’s Paris Grand Slam, followed by 6 Europeans and Kayla Harrison for Pan America. Exactly one year ago 3 Asians led, 2 Pan American athletes and 9 Europeans. What a change in one year time. Not any Korean judoka led the world ranking, now three men and the women are approaching rapidly. Since the start of the World Ranking in 2009 Korea didn’t have three leaders.

The bronze medal in Paris delivered Kim Won-Jin the first place in the World Ranking. Kim passed Takato who didn’t compete. Paris winner Toru Shishime moved up from 10 to 5.

Tumurkhuleg Davaadorj is back as leader U66kg as Zantaraia didn’t fight in Paris. Masashi Ebinuma is now back in the top 10 at 6.

Korean Paris winner An Changrim is world Ranking leader for the first time in his career. He passed Rustam Orujov (2). Finallist Denis Iartcev moves up from 8 to 6.

Tchrikishvili is stronger than ever in the World Ranking, but the real value will be determined in August in Rio. Victor Penalber will have a lot fans behind him, the Brazilian is ranked 4 now, from 5. Nine months ago Ivanov wasn’t even in the top 100, now he rises from 19 to 11.

Majlinda Kelmendi closed a big gap with Andreea Chitu U52kg and is now ranked 2. Kelmendi passed Erika Miranda who didn’t compete.

Kim Jan-Di continued her attack on the top, this week she moves from 6 to 3. Six months ago Kim was ranked 40. Brazilian Rafaela Silva is back in the top 10 at 7.

Clarisse Agbegnenou gained 500 points but remains at place 2 behind World Champion Tina Trstenjak.

U70 finallists Kim Seong-Yeon and Haruka Tachimoto can now be found at place 9 and 10. Kim came from 15, Tachimoto from 12.

Paris winner Mayra Aguiar jumps to 6 from place 9 last week U78kg. Harrison even built out her giant top position.

Japanese Megumi Tachimoto is back in the top 10, at place 4, when last week she was 12th. At place 9 Kanae Yamabe and at 10 Nami Inamori.
