In 2004 Judo in Belarus celebrated the Olympic Judo title for Ihar Makarau in Athens. In 2000 Anatoly Laryukov won bronze in Sydney. Makarau had won World Championships bronze in 2003. In 2015 Darya Skrypnik was the first Belarussian who won a World Championships medal. Belarus won 9 World medals, the first two by Natik Bagirov. Also Juri Rybak won 2 medals at world level for Belarus. Rashad Mamedov, Anatoly Laryukov, Siarhei Shundzikau, Andrei Kazusionok and Ihar Makarau won the European judo title for Belarus. Dzmitry Minkou won the Grand Prix Tashkent in 2017 and the European U23 title. Also Daniel Mukete won European U23 gold against Mikita Sviryd.
