Teddy Riner was injured this week during training in Rabat (MOR) as part of his preparation for the world championships. “Last Wednesday on a projection of Teddy, the partner fell on his ankle causing immediate pain”, explain, in a press release, Laurent Winkler, federal doctor, and Christophe Baudot, the PSG doctor.

Repatriated to Paris, the examinations revealed "an ankle sprain which will require the wearing of a cast and the use of crutches for three weeks."

The doctors assured that "the care will of course be administered daily, but that the physical preparation is not interrupted". They point out that "Teddy's preparation program for the world championships is reviewed but his participation is maintained".

The 33-year-old ten-time world champion is due to participate in the world championships in a month and a half in Tashkent (October 6-13). His presence at the Worlds will be a first since 2017 and his victory at the world championship disputed in Marrakech.

For his current preparation stay cut short by his injury, Teddy Riner visited the Etoile Sportive de Salé club where he met several judokas, including young people, to whom he gave advice and other tips to become the future of judo.
