Ne-Wazalyzed: The Buchard Roll

Amandine Buchard will tell you she learned this roll from Sugoi Uriarte so perhaps it should be called the Uriarte Roll. But she does it so effectively and with such panache that it would be justified to call it the Buchard Roll.

The roll itself is not particularly unique. It's similar to the turnover that players like Craig Fallon (GBR) and Ole Bischof (GER) liked to do. It's the grip that she establishes on uke's belt that is special and super strong.

See the sequence in the picture to understand how she establishes her super-strong belt grip before doing the roll. Then click on the close-up pic to see how incredibly tightly she has her right arm wound around uke's belt.
